CMN Hospitals Celebrates 35 Years of Partnership with Walmart and Sam’s Club
The 2022 Walmart and Sam’s Club campaign begins on Monday, June 13, and will run through July 10th. Once again, this four-week campaign will help member hospitals of CMN Hospitals with the critical funds necessary to meet their most urgent needs.
For 35 years, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates across the country have rallied behind the CMN Hospitals campaign to ensure kids and families in their communities are supported during the most trying moments in their lives. When the partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals was formed, Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, said “the associates will amaze you,” and those words could not have been more true. Year in and year out, the associates amaze us with their passion for our cause, their creativity, kindness, and the simple act of making the ask at the register. Walmart and Sam’s Club associates make a positive impact on kids’ health here in our community and in communities across North America.
Up to 50% of families who end up at a children’s hospital, did not expect it when waking up that morning. The funds raised through partners like Walmart and Sam’s Club, ensure kids can get the care they need when they need it, no matter life’s circumstances. Whether you’re shopping in a store or club or online, you have the chance to change kids’ health to change the future. Every dollar raised goes to support local kids and families, creating the kind of ripple effects that will positively impact our community and our world for years to come.
Local families just like Donyetta, a Walmart associate in Flint, MI, were pregnant with twin boys and due in October of 2013. Feeling some discomfort, Donyetta went to the hospital and got the surprise of a lifetime when her doctor said “you’re going to have these boys in 30.” Donyetta thought he meant 30 days knowing she was only 26 weeks into her pregnancy, but he actually meant 30 minutes!
Thankfully, Donyetta and her boys received expert care at Hurley Children’s Hospital, a proud member of CMN Hospitals. LaVentez (Tez) and Ezekil (Zeek) were born by emergency c-section and spent the first week of their lives on a ventilator and the next three months in the NICU. Before her experience with Hurley Children’s Hospital, Donyetta didn’t know about Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Now, through her personal experience and learning that the funds raised through partners like Walmart and Sam’s Club help provide the facilities, equipment and resources that helped her boys in those first few months of life, she’s a big supporter of the campaign at her location.
Tez and Zeek are now typical eight-year-old boys, full of energy and personality. Donyetta is thankful for her experience at Hurley Children’s Hospital, especially the nurses in the NICU who took care of her boys as if they were their own. Donyetta pays it forward by getting involved in fundraising at her location and letting everyone know about how Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals helped her family.
