Innovation Corner – Project Spotlight: Wear Your Why 2.0

As we continue to dive headfirst into a new year of “new”, the Innovation Team is working in lock-step with the Revenue Team to create and test new concepts that will bolster existing campaigns and fundraising efforts.  This past Fall, we executed the “Wear Your Why” test with Walmart to “discover and measure effective ways to motivate cashiers to ask customers for donations during a short 4-week campaign at Walmart and Sam’s Club”.

Co-tested in 17 Walmart locations during the Walmart campaign of 2018, the core idea of the concept was that a personalized badge for the Walmart associates would cause them to think more about why or how they could make miracles for CMN Hospitals. The badges were received well by the associates and the test locations averaged a $41.84 per week increase in fundraising! After initial positive trends from the quick test, the team is moving forward into stage 2 of testing, where we will expand the concept to more stores for the 2019 Walmart Campaign.

With the help of our Business Intelligence team and Official Launch Markets, the Wear Your Why badges will be distributed via specialized kit to strategically selected Walmart locations in our small, medium, and large U.S. markets. As we prepare to launch the second version of this campaign, we are incorporating feedback and checkpoints every step of the way to ensure any statistically significant changes in fundraising can be attributed to the badges’ presence.
