Simple Donor Stewardship – Thank you video
HOSPITAL LEADERSHIP: Jena Pado, Dayton Children’s Hospital Foundation
EMAIL NOTE:
We are so incredibly grateful for your generous support last week with your donation of N95 and surgical masks.
While I know you don’t want any recognition for your generous donation of masks, we wanted to send you this special thank you message from Luke Bemus. You may have met Luke at your golf outing – he was one of the Miracle kids. He’s an amazing young man and has spent much of his life being cared for at Dayton Children’s.
On behalf of Luke and all of the kids at Dayton Children’s, we want to thank you again for your extremely thoughtful donation during our time of need!
Stay healthy and safe,

Hospital Hosted Town Hall Calls
HOSPITAL LEADERSHIP: Grant Stirling, Lurie Children’s Hospital
Many hospitals throughout the network are holding town halls hosted by their CEO and/or Pediatrician-in-Chief to provide a stewardship touch point and an opportunity to hear from healthcare professionals.
In the Chicago market, their youth town hall was covered by twenty-six media outlets including the Chicago Sun-Times and media outlets in downstate Illinois and in Missouri. It garnered more than 15 million impressions and an estimated ad value of $140,000. See sample story covering the town hall.
To date, the Facebook Live has an estimated reach of 140,000 and has received more than 4,500 engagements (likes, shares and/or comments). On Saturday, April 18, there were more than 2,000 individuals viewing the broadcast live. To watch the Facebook Live below or click here.
Purchasing High Demand Items from Local Hotels in Orlando
HOSPITAL LEADERSHIP: John Bozard, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children
The Orlando market has worked with local hotels to purchase excess supplies (because of low occupancy) of the in-demand items like toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap that their front line healthcare workers were having a hard time finding in grocery stores after their shifts (because they were either closed or completely out of stock). They made care packages for staff to take home of these important items.
Communication Sent to CMN Partners Adversely Affected by Stay at Home Mandate
HOSPITAL LEADERSHIP: Erin Morinson, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt
The Nashville market sent the following email to business that have been affected by the mandate to stay at home including Delta Air Lines, GameStop, Great Clips, Kendra Scott, Marriott, Nordstrom, CU4Kids, and RE/MAX.
Sample Email:
We are in unprecedented times as we move through this evolving situation with coronavirus (COVID-19), compounded locally by the impact of the tornado in early March. As I write today, Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeing approximately 20% of admissions from the State of Tennessee, and is seeing a slow increase in the number of COVID-19 positive patients in our region, across the state and in our adult hospital. The good news is that growth for positive cases is stretching out, which means that sheltering at home is making a difference. Yet, we know based on predictive models released last week, that we will be learning to live, work and care for our patients with COVID-19 as part of our new normal. We have work groups continually reviewing national and best-practice guidelines as they emerge regarding infection prevention.
We know that your business has been adversely affected by this pandemic and want you to know that we are thinking of you during this time. Because of the support provided by your organization in the months and years prior to this pandemic, VUMC is in a good position to be able to provide care to those who need us. We are very thankful for your partnership and support!
HERE is a video message from some of our patient ambassadors, and attached are their stories. Please share this email with your employees in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, and let them know that each of you is in our thoughts and prayers.
Stay safe and be well.
