Innovation Corner – Project Spotlight: Miracle Field Day
As the Innovation Team continues to explore ideas that will bring our cause to new demographic groups, we have taken our tests back to school with Miracle Field Day. In the spring of 2018, two elementary schools in Greenville, South Carolina agreed to use their end of year field day as an opportunity to host a peer-to-peer fundraising event for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Upstate. With the help of our Innovation sponsor Boosterthon, those two schools were able to raise just over $5,000.
After gathering feedback from the participating students, parents, and school staff, we decided to dive headfirst into preparing the second version of this program. Starting May 10 and running through June 4, eight elementary schools in the Greenville market will be hosting their own Miracle Field Day. In the days leading up to field day, Boosterthon employees will be traveling to each of the schools to teach students character lessons centered around four of our national champions’ stories. Thus far, over 100 students have signed up for their own fundraising pages.
Once each school has executed their event, the Innovation Team will work with Boosterthon during a period of data collection and analysis to determine if this concept will expand to more markets in 2020.
