Credit Union National Association + Credit Union for Kids

On behalf of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and our 5,500+ member credit unions,  I want to send a quick reminder to your hospitals to please report any funds donated to your hospital by a credit union or credit union organization, regardless of if they were raised through an official Credit Union for Kids (CU4Kids) program or not. The vast majority of our credit unions expect that their dollars are being counted towards our national effort, whether or not they use the “Credit Unions for Kids” brand.  In fact, we encourage our credit unions to simply promote their credit union’s support of the local hospital and not to mention CU4Kids at all if that is best for their fundraising efforts. Our credit unions do not differentiate funds sent to CMN Hospitals as being part of CU4Kids or not; we assume all funds count towards the larger, cooperative CU4Kids effort.

Over the past few years, we have been running into problems with credit unions seeing a fundraising number in our quarterly reporting that is lower than they believe they have donated. This has led to questions about the ability of CMN Hospitals to collect and recognize funds. It has also led to questions about funds being appropriately used by the hospitals. In addition, these missing funds are causing problems when recognizing top fundraising credit unions at various conference throughout the year and through CUNA’s communication channels at year end.

If there is anything my staff at CUNA or the CU4Kids staff can do to help with the reporting of these funds, please feel free to reach out to me through Chris Perry, Managing Director, Corporate Partners, cperry@cmnhospitals.org. Thank in you in advance for your attention on this. Ensuring our credit unions are being recognized for the full amount of their support will go a long way to helping us steward your credit union partners, further helping grow the program.

We are proud and honored to support CMN Hospitals and the local hospitals you serve and look forward to continuing to building our partnership.
