PILOT: CDO Summit Attendance Measurement
The CDO Advisory Committee was very thoughtful and researched many variables before making this decision. The CDO Advisory Committee acted based on these two measures:
- 2016 top 30 members based on fundraising results
- 2016 top 30 members based on fees paid
When blending both lists there is a total of 35 markets. We recognize this is not perfect which is a key reason to why the committee agreed to a one-year pilot so the process can be evaluated and if necessary adjusted to meet the needs to ensure the best experience for the attendees.
The following message was sent out to hospital leadership on 8/23/17:
Dear Foundation Leaders,
The CDO Summit is quickly approaching and we do hope you will be with us.
CMN Hospitals has received increasing requests from hospitals and foundations with large development staffs to be allowed to send a senior leader in lieu of the CDO’s attendance. After considerable discussion, we wish to pilot a one-year test.
We are inviting 35 members (below is the list), if their respective CDO is unavailable to attend, to send another senior leader to the meeting. This is not an invitation for you to send your CMN Hospitals program director. Rather, we hope a senior decision maker for the member hospital development/foundation program will attend. Someone who:
- Has a portfolio of responsibilities including CMN Hospitals but which is broader and deeper than this one program.
- Can be a decision maker for her/his development program at the meeting.
- Will provide continuity by attending the CDO meetings each year.
There is no perfect way to have a summit for 170 members which is equally beneficial to all, but we hope this adjustment proves to be of value and is valued.
In addition, we welcome all CDOs attending to consider bringing a second senior development leader as well. If you have any questions please reach out to John Bel at john.bel@christushealth.org.
